Osage Wilderness Trail

In his book, In The Woods:  One Hundred Years of Camping in the Heart of America Council, Andy Dubill reports that the Osage Wilderness Trail was dedicated on June 16, 1979, for the availability of Scout and Explorer units to hike the trail as a unit activity or a shakedown activity leading up to a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.  Even today, Scouts can still hike the 12.5 mile, all off-road loop trail as it winds through the rugged Ozark woodlands.  More information can be found at:  http://www.hoac-bsa.org/osage-wilderness-trail
